This is a good idea to have foreign driver's licensed to NZ standards, or they shouldn't be allowed to drive on our road's AT ALL!

All foreign drivers to our country should be required to take a theory and partial test and issued with a driver's license valid for duration of their visit only.

It's knowing that If I actually do go out what if my 2 month baby ends up dead I can't even think what I'll do. I just don't understand how the f**k they got there license there then come here and drive it's stupid.

VISITORS to New Zealand who is issued with a visa for a period longer than 3 months, and who wishes to drive a vehicle while in the country, be required to sit a full New Zealand driver's licence test and be issued with a New Zealand Driver's Licence.

WhIle not directly effected by someone dying in a crash caused by an overseas driver, I feel incredibly sad for those who have lost a loved one in this way, when it could potentially be prevented.

I live in Timaru and travel inland a lot - the driving is terrible. Something needs to be done.

Something needs to be done urgently. There will always be road deaths but foreign untrained drivers on our roads to me equals unnecessary road deaths

I feel that foreign drivers need some type of test because our way of driving and our roads are very different from their own countries. The only exception I feel is Australians.

Too put it simply far too many innocent lives are taken on our New Zealand roads! A basic test could be all that is needed to see whether the tourists are capable of driving on our roads safely! It is so hard for young kiwis to get their liscene these days even though they know our roads! Make it fair and save lives!

I've seen many tourist drivers that make me chringe the way they drive, thankfully I've never witnessed an accident but have seen on the news the tragic outcome of tourists driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to give way and other major traffic violations. It's time for a change!
