fully support this, if they are here longer than 3 months it is unlikely they are still a tourist.

I completely agree with this petition. People who drive in NZ should hold a NZ issued drivers licence.

I think a temporary test for under 3 months also for countries who have different methods (drive on other side of road)

3 months is too long! As an Ambulance Officer I attended a fatality accident of 2 people and 4 seriously injured when a lady from Ohio was driving on our country roads and had a lapse of judgement on a blind corner and changed into the wrong lane resulting in her having a head on collision at 100km/hr with 4 motorbikes! She had been in NZ 3 days!! If you come to NZ and want to drive, sit a test within 2 weeks of being in NZ (with no driving during this time unless having driving lessons) - that's enough time to learn OUR roadcode and sit a written and physical driving test. (obviously this test would be different from our Licence stages as NZers). Issue it for the duration of 3 months then retest written and physical driving skills taking into consideration any driving offences which could hinder the possibility of extending the drivers licence.

They should all have to pass a full driving test as soon as they arrive and want to drive on our roads!

Seriously I agree with this , I think so as a driver when you driving with passengers or no or even the pedestrian on the road you should consider about others life is in your hand when you are behind that wheel . I think so this will reduce road accidents and casualties . I f you are not fit enough to pass the test than of course you can't drive in New Zealand .

It should be from three weeks except for Chinese they should not be allowed to drive here at all and anyone who is involved in any traffic incident should not be allowed to leave the country until fines and any medical bills are paid in full. Currently foreigners are getting away with vehicular manslaughter.

How many more deaths will it take before something is done? After the latest Asian girl allowed to go home free after KILLING another person I can't stand by any longer.
