Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

I think the 3 months should be changed to 3 minutes

Yes from me..needs to happen..if you want to drive here regardless of how long your visit.

It should be a requirement that foreign drivers PROVE they are capable and confident of driving on NZ roads to a NZ driving licence safety level.

I have to sit a licence to drive on our roads, so should everyone else. For their own safety and ours.

I think all visitors intending to drive should be sitting this, not just on a longer stay. You just have to travel the South Island to see the chaotic camper vans... Would these have tourists that stay 3 months?

If New Zealanders who live and breed into the country and have grown up around the road laws have to sit multiple tests to prove that they understand the rules and are safe enough to drive why do foreigners for who all we know have no idea about the rules and is to used to their original environment that they make mistakes on our road that could potentially kill peoples it to me seems insane that we need to have a petition for this is. It should already exist

You are on the right track but I don't think our politicians would agree. It is vital that a legit authenticated standard be legislated though because the present system is insane.

Should be compulsory. And if they have an accident and kill someone they should serve their sentence.

All visitors wanting to drive here should have to pass the NZ Driver's Licence test; definitely so if from Asia.

Grant Warren I'll share and sign as it is a good cause brought about by tragic circumstances and a driver lacking the appropriate skillset. Just a footnote though: We had better be prepared to accept a similar sort of driving aptitude and knowledge of the local road rules test when we are travelling overseas and intend to ride or drive around the country we are visiting, be it Australia, the US and Europe, China or anywhere else...

I have seen too many Asian drivers driving all over the roads without being conserate of other cars. Also if there is a photo opportunity they just stop nd turn around to go back regrdless of other drivers
