Foreign drivers to sit New Zealand Drivers Licence test

I have fond memories of Rhys Middleton through visiting Greers many times over the years. Great idea to get foreign drivers to sit and driving test.

I too lost my son in an accident on his motorbike while he rode to work.....remember drivers "look twice for motorcycles....someone's whole world is on that bike" Too many deaths of young inspiring males xx

Absolutely this should happen.

As long as you are perpared to do the same when you travel overseas. New Zealanders need to tighten up on their own driving. All that will happen is more unlicensed drivers on the road

6 months grace before visitors must gain a licence is common practice elsewhere. I live in the Coromandel and frequently see tourist driving errors that could be potentially fatal on our narrow winding roads. Too many deaths. Also people getting off long-haul flights and immediately driving must be stopped.

Need drive test

A young man's life was needlessly lost because of an inexperienced foreign driver and a family grieves. It's high time there is a law change to protect our citizens on the road.

All foreign visitors should require an international drivers licence & test for the country they are visiting to ensure they are familiar with the road rules. And only certified testers should be eligible to issue on a registered database.

fully agree with this.I have been emailing Craig Foss MP for months and disgusted by his lack of proper action on this.Simon Bridges does not want to know in case it affects the chinese tourists from coming here

Disgusting outcome. What us up with our justice system

Especially the foreign drivers that are used to driving on the right side of the road in their country. They should sit a practical test or better still not be permitted to drive on NZ roads. There are bus tours and other means of transport for the tourists that are accustomed to the right side of the road driving.

I firmly believe this cause, They should all have car stickers maybe a V for visitor or F for Foreigner.

Please do this!!!! Too many of us are being killed by foreign drivers who don't know our roads! Please make them sit tests first!
