Foreign drivers must sit New Zealand Drivers Licence - both a theory test (Road code) and a practical test to ensure they know and are able to drive in New Zealand, especially those who are from countries where they drive on right hand side of the road.

Any visitor must go through the driver license test, if they failed, they should not drive on road. no matter they have overseas drive license, or not.

Agree totally. Also should be prevented from driving vehicle, including hire car, within 24 hours of arrival.

I 'd like any foreign tourist who wishes to drive in NZ to sit the test, not just those who are issued visas for over 3 months. There should not be a time restriction.
