I had a friend in summit county that had their lost dog taken to the pound and like a week later they found out and went to get her but they said she wasn't there and come to find out about a month later a friend adopted her but they pound or hs would not tell them anything so im just trying to be optimistic

A dog with ringworm can be easily treated and cured. I got ringworm once from a rabbit and it cleared up easily. There was an interested person in this dog who was connecting the dog up with a local rescue group, so there was absolutely no reason to have killed this friendly dog! I thought the SCHS was suppose to be a no-kill shelter?

This policy must be new in the last 10 years. I adopted two dogs from there back then and both were sick when I got them home. The first had kennel cough, which was easily treated. The second however had to be rushed to the Emergency Vet Hospital where we were told that she had parvo a highly contagious and deadly disease. Mind you I just picked up the dog that morning. She had a 3 night sty in the hosp. and had to get a blood transfusion. They told us if we had not gotten her she would have been dead in the morning. I called Stark County Humane Society and told them about my dog, mainly because it is so contagious and I felt they needed to know. They did not seem to care all they had to say to me was " we don't give refunds". I have been against them ever since then. Something needs to be done about them!!

There is absolutely no reason a healthy animal should be euthanized! When you promote to the community you are a no-kill shelter stand behind that! It is time that SCHS become responsible for what they are doing!

This is absolutely unexcusable, euthanizing animals is N OT an answer for anything except irreversable illness when the animal is suffering. This is mid-evil to say the least when will the killing end!!!!!
