For the allowance of makeup in KS3 at PHGS Otley
This petition is for the allowance of natural looking makeup at KS3 PHGS. As many of you who attend the school will know, makeup isn't allowetill KS4, however, we believe society has changed since these rules were put in place. Nowadays it is quite normal to see a 13 year old girl with mascara on, whereas 20 years ago, this wasn't the case. We understand that we cannot change society, so our only option is to adapt our school in a very minor, non drastic way. Makeup makes girls feel better about themselves, surely a school is a place where you are meant to be yourself? But no, this is not what it feels like. The paper petitions were released just this morning, and already do we have over 100 signatures from various year groups and genders. If you have time, please leave a comment because they will be key when bringing it forward to school So that's about it! Please sign the petition, and share the link!
Note- Anyone can sign, but if you haven't got a connection to the school, please leave in the comments your reasons for signing. Also, if you're in KS4 or even are a girl who doesn't wear makeup, but you do agree with the petition, and non of this applies or will affect you, please still sign because it could change the lives of many. Any duplicate/ fake signatures will be deleted.

I have been reading through all your comments and it is clear how much this rule impacts how many of us see ourselves during the school day. I am currently working on a formal request for the administration to review their current policy on appearance.

Seeing this much momentum behind a simple request for our own comfort is incredible. It confirms that the standard we are asking for belongs in our daily lives at school.

I think it's really important that girls should be aloud to wear minimum makeup. firstly it will improve people's concentration in school a lot, because we won't be worrying about how we look. when I wear makeup I admit I spend more of my time worrying about how I look then my work. I think we should be aloud minimum makeup, like natural. not bright eye shadows and lipsticks but defiantley natural, we always get told that if we want to change something we need to speak up, and a lot of us are so please take it in to consideration.
I think you should be able to wear makeup because you can express yourself and the teachers wear it!
People should be allowed to wear makeup (natural) because if people want to wear it then that's their opinion. If they wear it out of school then why not in school? It's not harming anyone.
People should be allowed to express themselves, whether that's through the means of make up, or how they behave. I'm very supportive of this petition.
If anything if we can feel positive and more confident it should improve learning instead of not being able to concentrate due to feeling self conscious or paranoid.
Why not.
Good luck girls

Make up should be allowed!! I've had my fair share of comments for it, and I never think I look like I'm wearing a drastic amount at all. Things need to change!!
