Please do NOT sign if you are not affiliated with Okemos High School. We appreciate the thought, but the administration will not take this seriously if it is not coming from parents and supporters. Students, it would be preferable if your parents could sign instead of you, since the school counts their voice above yours (I know, it is unfair, but the fact that students are almost unanimously against this action does not bother the administration in the slightest).
This blog, and the network of student blogs it connects to, contain the students' calendar, all of their supplemental materials, the review materials for the AP test that they have spent hours writing, and nearly all of the homework assignments they have had this year. The loss of it, on such short notice, will throw a wrench into the workings of this fast-paced and challenging class.
We would like to ask the the administration to allow the reactivation of the AP Lit blogs, and either let them remain active until the end of the year, since the syllabus is built around them, or at least leave them active long enough for Ms. Holmes to work out an acceptable solution to this dilemma.
Please, if you are an OHS parent, or if you are influential at Okemos High School for another reason (i.e. a significant donor), sign this petition and save the AP Lit blogs.
