The object of this petition is to encourage Mongrel Media, one of Canada's leading film distributors, to provide English subtitles for their English speaking films in order to make their films accessible for those with any kind of hearing loss. Many films loved and appreciated elsewhere are not accessible because of a lack of English subtitles: some examples include "Wendy and Lucy," "Detachment," "The Future," "Fish Tank" and "Away From Her" among many, many others. They currently provide French subtitles for these films, so why not English ones too? Even if you do not have a hearing loss, your thoughts for those who do are appreciated.
