Food is a Human Right in Louisville

The grocery was a major selling point for me when buying a house- I had no idea that the 2nd street Kroger was not owned, but rented, and that there was a possibility of it closing just a year after my moving in. This is extremely disappointing to me. How can we expect the area to change/improve, as far as others buying homes when there is no access to groceries!?

Please keep the 2nd Street Kroger open!

I live right across from this Kroger, I go to the college right there by it. This is were nearly all of us students get out food from, a good amount of us don't have cars and our parents are to far away. This has all of us stressed out.

This will make lots of people lose their jobs which is not good

The Louisville Metro government needs to take action to help people get access to food, and not just give tax breaks to corporations who don't care about the communities they build in.

This is my grocery store and I depend on it. please don't close it

I am a Kroger employee and I am extremely upset to hear that this store is closing. When I went to school downtown this was the only grocery store I knew about. For miles. If this store closes people literally will not have access to food. That's inhumane and appalling. And it goes completely against what Kroger stands for.

I think it's important to note that some visiting this Kroger walk to it in order to purchase their food and grocery needs. Kroger should reconsider closing such a beneficial and necessary store.

I live right smack in the middle of the 2nd St and Goss Ave Krogers. If you havent been to the Goss Ave Kroger yet, dont worry about...it takes 3 days to get out of there. Mind you, the Goss Ave. Kroger is nowhere near Old Louisville. The Goss Kroger is in Germantown.

I drive or walk by the Old Louisville Kroger every single day (when I'm not shopping there), and every day I see physically disabled people coming in and out of the store with wheelchairs and walkers. Closing this store--without replacing it with another affordable grocery store with fresh food options--will be devastating to the vulnerable population that this store obviously serves.

Many studends and people who live in the area are without transportation and rely on this Kroger as their only source for groceries.

When I lived in Old Louisville, with no car and no car access, this kroger was the only way for me to get reasonably priced groceries, toiletries, and actual produce that catered to my diet (special diet due to illness). The only other proper grocery store "nearby" is the Kroger at Central Station, which is 20-30 min by bus on a good day (as it is always crowded, so no place for your groceries) AND in the summer your meat and dairy items can spoil quickly, even in temperature controlled bags, due to you standing at the bus stop for ages and then on the crowded bus. It was barely an option for me, living in the middle of old louisville, and it is certainly not an option for those shopping at downtown kroger from farther afield. There are small corner stores dotted around old louisville, but they are crazy overpriced and do not sell fresh vegetables, fruits, proper meat, dairy, or medicine. Booze and chips a healthy diet does not make. Lastly, I have never seen this Kroger not busy. Every time I went in it was massively crowded, so lack of business should not be an excuse. The only grocery store in Portland has closed, the only Pic Pac in Russell has closed, the Kroger in Shively has closed etc. If you want to have a healthy populace, give them grocery stores. And don't you DARE shame the poor for "eating unhealthy" or "making bad choices" when you close every proper grocery store.

This closure will impact hundreds of older adults in the apartments in the area, as well as the students attending two universities. Many constituents in this area do not have the means or ability to drive to the Kroger in several neighborhoods over.

I have e many friends in this area and even people who live at spalding university who rely on easy access for groceries. To take it away would be an imoral thing to do to these students and people in this area.

To keep our citizens healthy and happy, keep the grocery stores open! They are much needed in these areas as most people in the area have no transportation and need access to food within walking distance.

Ensuring access to food is literally the bare minimum a government can do for its citizens.

Save the Kroger!

I don't have a car, and I have walked to this kroger twice a week for two years now. It has been a source of food and a source of community.

This is the closest grocery store to Spalding University and the only one in walking distance, so the students who don't have cars can't get food without this Kroger.
