Food is a Human Right in Louisville

I need this Kroger. I don't have a car!

Please keep food options open in downtown and Old Louisville

For people with low incomes, this is a crying shame. Many do not own cars and need access to a full grocery store.

I don't reside in Louisville but have visited that neighborhood many times and often enough to say, it IS needed. An update pehaps and Kroger would surely profit from what could be such a beautiful community. Thank you, Matthew Elrich

Everyone deserves access to fresh food.

All citizens deserve access to healthy food.

"Kroger will remain strong in Louisville and involved in the community.” -Kroger Public Affairs Manager, Tim McGurk ...They just can’t make a five year commitment to Old Louisville.

Food is a human right.

Decent access to quality food is so important to a community and impacts health in a variety of ways.

There is No reason for this to be happening to so many people who walk to the store. Where their resources make it difficult to shop and bus. Be kind to our citizens and do not create another Food Desert!

Areas with already limited access to food have been shown to have increased risk factors for other problems such as violence and chronic poverty. Closing grocery stores in areas that are already branded food deserts means the residents of those areas will either be forced to go to the east end for food, further sequestering wealth in certain pockets of the city, or for those who don't have cars it will mean dependence on already limited and inefficient social services. The locations of particular stores targeted smacks of racism and class inequity. If Louisville is a "Compassionate City, " we need to support infrastructure for access to basic human needs.

Food insecurity and food deserts are real, and deserving of attention

Good access to food is a quality of either a developed nation or an eden; stop treating Louisville's west end like an undeveloped 3rd world nation because we all know the city has made sure it is no eden

Food is a human right. Stop taking our grocery stores and leaving us with nothing.

Food access is a basic right and many people (approx 51%) in west louisville do not have reliable transportation to get to grocery stores out of their neighborhoods. Lack of grocery stores creates food deserts that have been linked to a higher risk of fatality in people with diabetes. It's not fair that I have seen at least 6 grocery stores/supermarkets open or be renovated this year in the east end and in the highlands while we continue to lose crucial grocery stores in our neighborhoods.

There must be steps taken by our local leadership to incentivize community grocers to stay in our impoverished neighborhoods. Where is the compassion in our community? It is difficult enough to find fresh quality produce now there will be no fresh food at all for miles. So many people are without vehicles.

I am very fortunate to have a well stocked Kroger near my current home. There have been times in my life when I lived in a poor neighborhood, and getting to a grocery with reasonable prices was quite difficult. I support those who will be adversely affected by the announced closings.

Stop taking so many steps back.

Without the 2nd Street Kroger, I wouldn't have had access to decent food in my neighborhood before I could buy a car. So many in my neighborhood of Old Louisville will suffer because of this closure.

I live in this area. The poor with no transportation need access to healthy food.
