Recent announcements have stated that several grocery stores are closing in the Louisville area. All of these grocery stores are located in Louisville neighborhoods already known to be food deserts*

As a "Compassionate City," Metro Louisville must put its resources into ensuring every neighborhood has equitable access to nutritious, desirable food.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer has stated:

“There’s a role for all of us in making sure no one is left behind or goes wanting.”

Food is a human right.

We must hold Greg, our Metro Council legislators, as well as the retailers, accountable. Kroger has simultaneously built large, variety filled, grocery stores in affluent neighborhoods:
