One big reason why the food budget is favorable for cutting is because it is a large budget. It is more complicated for the board to eliminate whole items of the budget or reduce smaller budget items. This is a decision of short-term convenience for our leadership and long term suffering for our whole member body. Food is only one way we can make our organization more accessible to disadvantaged communities. Taking the time to understand their needs is a much more effective and welcoming way to reach out. They are going to pitch this as an easy way to eliminate an inefficiency in our food budget. The number of logical leaps taken in this proposal is absurd. Does not reflect well on management.

This plan is the worst idea if have seen come out of a committee in the ten years I've been in the BSC. It will have significant, probably unintended negative consequences, and I don't believe it will attract a single low-income member to the BSC.
