Petition Summary and Background:
Currently, our campus police cannot issue citations to individuals found smoking within campus non-smoking areas. Unfortunately, many individuals continue to smoke in posted restricted areas. Assembly Bill 795 Passed recently and was signed into law, effective 1/1/2012, allowing our campus police officers to issue citations to individuals found in violation of campus smoking restrictions. However, their authority to issue citations must be granted at the district level.
Action Petitioned for:
We, the undersigned, are concerned students, faculty & Staff of Folsom Lake College, who urge our Los Rios District Leaders to act now and authorize our campus police to enforce the provisions of AB795 As of January 1, 2012.
