Save the Flatiron Building

I work at a small produce and snack shop downtown. Our best customers are people who work downtown like the people who work at the 70+ businesses that occupy the Flat Iron currently. I find that tourists often don't even spend much money at local shops. Hotels create spaces that are devoid of culture and community. If renovations need to be made, that can be done while maintaining the type of occupancy.

I am sickened by the avarice of the city council

Please protect this architectural gem.

Preserve to for real. Don't simply bitchier it for the tourists...

Please do not turn the flatiron building into another hotel!

Keep Asheville small business friendly!

We do not need another hotel in Asheville. Stop this now! Convert it to residences with parking.

The Flat Iron building is an important part of the downtown culture abs beauty. Keep it offices. We don’t need more hotels for tourists. We need places to work for locals.

PLEASE DONT CONTINUE TO RUIN OUR CITY!!!!!

If you destroy Asheville culture you’ll have empty hotels.

With no parking and narrowing of our street, this should not be allowed. We have an abundance of hotel rooms. Perhaps the developer can create a better use of the building.

Asheville does not need yet another hotel and consequently more parking issues!

Downtown Asheville does not need another hotel. The powers-that-be seem to be so focused on attracting tourist dollars that they are neglecting to think of the local dollars that could be spent. The overcrowding of tourists downtown has brought my family to the point where we avoid downtown if at all possible. We used to enjoy going there, walking around, shopping local, but not anymore. Local shopping that we do occurs elsewhere.

Parking and traffic are currently major problems during normal and peak tourist periods. Plus traffic flow on Battery Park, Wall Street, O Henry, and Page is already nonsensical.

One of the best things about Asheville are the unique local shops and business. Don't turn the Flat Iron into a hotel. Keep it as it is!

Asheville does not need any more hotels!

This would make me sick to see. Don’t throw out all the small business people to convert to a hotel. Really bad move if this approved. This is the soul of asheville we are now taking about.

City Council: Don't give into big business! Don't put money before the people of Asheville.
