We do not need more unsupervised non-residents coming into our neighborhoods, and for many, our backyards. Do we really think commuters are going to ride their bikes all the way from the south to the train station in the morning? There are plenty of recreational bike paths that do not involve areas adjacent to family homes.

Certainly I think that making nature accessible to people is very important. But making a path through peoples’ back yards is not the way to promote a communion of nature and community.

I am very opposed to the bike path. To have a public path go right behind peoples homes, who bought their property with no intent of having strangers be able to have access to the back side of their homes, whether fenced in or not, is wrong and a violation of our privacy. I also echo sentiments that sidewalks would be a much better use of grant money or Village funds. Allowing our children a safe route, not walking in the street, to Forest Hills School, should be something that the Village strive for.

Please develop sidewalks before bike paths. Sidewalks are important for older residents who cannot walk without assistance. Sidewalks also provide children a vehicle free way to get to school and friends. Thank you.
