Currently, members of the US Congress may participate in the Social Security plan and the Medicare plan, but they don\'t have to. They have a plan that gives them full pay and benefits when they leave office. They have no stake in seeing that either Social Security or Medicare is solvent. Consequently, they play political football with the issue and don\'t resolve the issues. OK, it\'s time to level the playing field. Let Social Security and Medicare be the only plan available to them. They will not be eligible for any other US Government-sponsored retirement plan.
I am currently compiling a list of your comments to send directly to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Email your representative today to ask why they refuse to participate in the same retirement systems as the people they represent.

The momentum behind this petition proves that people are tired of seeing Congress play games with our retirement security. Now is the time to turn this pressure into action by emailing your representative to demand they join the same system as the rest of us.

About time. Why should they get special treatment when the rest of us are working until we drop just to keep the lights on?
