Under the current Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012, graduate students will have to pay interest on their subsidized Stafford loans while still in school. All students will now also have to start paying back the money they borrowed immediately after graduation: the compromise eliminated the six-month grace period during which the government paid the interest. Such economic obstacles could leave our generation without enough doctors, Graduate Degree holders, or lawyers. Only those rich enough to avoid loans will be able to afford any education beyond an undergraduate degree.
This petition is to urge Congress to help American students by fixing these problems. Allow students to defer all their loan payments, and reinstate the six-month grace period. Education is a right, not a privilege.

Education is already expensive enough without them trying to squeeze every cent out of us while we are still studying. GREED.
They want us to get degrees but make it impossible to actually finish school without drowning in insane debt. Fix this.
How am i supposed to pay back these loans when i cant even find a job that pays rent yet? this is so unfair
My parents cant help me and working full time while in grad school is impossible. Please stop punishing us for trying to get an education.
