Period 6 is a time for learning and socializing at westfield highschool, this is a rare oppurtunity that we are greeted with and at the moment we do not have that oppurtunity, with westfield making the changes it has made to period six it erodes our oppurtunity to recover after a long day of highschool, we all know that it is a stressful time in an adolescents life and at the moment that is taken from us atudents here at Westfield highschool. And as a student here at Westfield High School, I believe that i speak for everyone when i say thet period six is a place where students can utilize their time however they may need, whether that is staying in class to finish a test, or socializing with friends and again is a rare and great oppurtunity gere at westfield. We can learn how to manage our time allowing our school to be even more valuable to us as young adults, and with the present regulations that is restrained, i sign this petition hoping that who the school is designed to grow and take care of, the students, are considered when thinking about the regulations.

The new 6th period rules don't make sense. We should have freedom to do what we want during that time, and if we finish early, we should be allowed to leave on our own terms.

Although I am unaware of the measures taken to punish the students who were disruptive, I feel like going as far as to punish the entire student body is unfair. As a well-accredited high school I understand that the standards here are high, however changing the sixth period rule is damaging to its equally high-performing and achieving students. Sixth period is a wonderful tool for students to take advantage of if they need to. In fact, it is often used as a time to multitask on getting help, meeting with teachers, hosting clubs, and completing missed quizzes and tests due to absences. With the new, severely restricted rules being enforced, students like myself are unable to complete multiple tasks in one period. Now, after taking a brief five to ten minute quiz, students are forced to stay in the room they took the quiz in, preventing them from going to different classrooms to take other missed quizzes, or to attend a club they are loyal to. This forces students to reprioritize, and because there was not a warning given, the transition period into the new rules is especially rough. This also puts a strain on students with tests in the testing center, especially now with the end of the trimester coming up.
I'll reiterate that I don't know what was done to punish the few disruptive students, but it would have made sense to make sixth period mandatory for them everyday, and to have them report every day to a designated teacher. If the student is active in a club their membership should have been revoked. As for meeting with a teacher for help or to make something up that's not in the testing center, then the teacher hosting the student should have to contact their designated sixth period teacher to inform them that the student is with them.
Please, please, please, consider your busy students and change the rule back to normal, or at least make teachers hand out passes so that students can leave the room to go to a different classroom or activity. Perhaps even co

This is a terrible rule-- bring things back to the way they were.
The new rules unfairly punish everyone and make 6th period no longer as helpful

I need to make up work in multiple classes
It needlessly punishes the good students
Keeping people in classes creates disruptions for those trying to do work in those classes
Classes get overcrowded, especially the testing center. This was a problem before and is only exacerbated now
There was no blanket statement for a warning before this change was made

I will sign but an alternative needs to be made, for instance, after school recording for production classes can't be allowed anymore...

Drivers who are stopping by a classroom to get makeup work can't leave and we would be wasting our time staying in the classroom when we don't need to.

Staying in one class for the whole time is hard when you have several classes to make up work in.
The senior class elections were rigged.
