Fix Our Roads

We have lived in this community for 30 years and have never seen streets the condition as Village Walk. People visiting regularly comment on the condition of our streets. The streets in Village Walk need attention now not later.

As a local Realtor, I am driving around town a lot. As I drive through other neighborhoods, it's evident that our neighborhood is not a priority to this town. Is it because our assessed values are not enough to warrant your concern? Huntington Woods just got a huge new pave job and their roads were in much better condition than ours. Please acknowledge that our modest neighborhood deserves the same road conditions as other communities.

Thanks for putting this petition together. I had a similar thought. My question is how can the city consider a multimillion dollar building with our reads in such poor shape.

I reported a huge hole starting in our cul-de-sac in June and it was not repaired and/or looked at until, at least, 6 months later. This needs to be remedied ASAP! People have been seriously hurt in biking accidents, and we really don't want to have our children ride their bikes that much anymore for fear that they will get hurt. Our cars and tires are also taking a serious beating every day. I hit a rut in the road every time I back out of my driveway. I don't understand why the side roads have been fixed, but the main road has been ignored, especially since we lost another way in and out of our neighborhood with the new roundabout!

In add to the above comment, Tim Haak was also in the referenced meeting with Lance a few years ago. And the left over 200k I referenced above as mentioned in the Zionsville Current was specifically stated to have been in the "paving budget."

It was reported to a group of Village Walk homeowners that no road would be replaced in 2014 so the funds could accumulate so that in 2015 all of Village Walk Drive could be replaced. We were and are told that they would spend about 200k per year on village walk streets. Skipping 2014 would allow the availability of the 400k needed to do village walk drive. Instead they did Phillips Place in 2015. The Zionsville Current quoted mayor Tim Haak as saying that they could allocate 200k "left over" from the 2015 budget toward the traffic light project on 334. That "left over" 200k should have been combined with the other money, as stated previously, to pave all of VW drive on schedule. This information comes from a meeting we had with Lance a few years ago and a conversation reported back to us by our former VW HOA board town liaison.

35 Graystone Court You have a lot of long time residents in this neighborhood who've paid a lot of taxes to support the growth and budget of Zionsville. It's imperative that the streets be repaired in a timely fashion and before 2017 without a flimsy and weak commitment. You've taken a way an entrance to support the demands of growth and now you've made a crossroads right in the middle of the neighborhood which demands the attention of repair. What happened to the Zionsville I grew up in? For a visit or a lifetime? Is it really for a lifetime and if so, why is there not better vision for taking care of the resources already built and the people who helped build it?

It is sad that the new town hall building should take precident over the streets in our town. I'm embarrassed when visitors drive through our town and neighborhood and make comments about how this place is becoming run down and that Whiteston appears to be doing the right things.

I'm at 70 Phillips Pl. with my parents and frankly even the roads that have been repaved recently are unacceptable, let alone the ones that haven't been. This trend of half baked jobs and band aids is ridiculous. Fix the roads, the right way, the first time, in a reasonable amount of time.

Worse road in Zionsville. Lance promised that Village Walk Drive would be replaced in January 2014, while attending our subdivision meeting and informing the neighborhood that one of the entrances would be closed at Bloor Lane. Sad to see it being pushed to 2017.

They won't last the time frame it will take to get them fixed. Dangerous for bike riders of all ages. I have been told about a car repair service in our town uses our roads to to test shocks on customers cars

Please fix our roads! It's embarrassing.

When one of our three entrances to the subdivision closed to create a roundabout, our main artery became increasingly busy. This impacts the integrity of this already crumbling road. Please find a way to address this problem. Thank you.

I too miss riding my bike to the grocery. It's too rutted and unsafe. Every day a new 6" X 6" chunk of concrete appears

I agree, and I believe that there is a substantial negative impact on home values.

My kids (ages 5 and 6) cannot even ride their bikes or scooters without huge cracks and boulders making them fall. Shameful, Zionsville.
