I agree wholeheartedly that this rule hinders the quality of campus life between couples as well as discourages applicants from considering Grove City College. Allow you students to be responsible adults and make decisions for themselves instead of continuing to shelter them.

1) No actually, this is false. Please see your RA.
2) This argument is classic. It can be used against any rule that isn't 100% effective. Do you believe it is 0% effective?
3) "...sending the wrong message," never elaborated on. Accountable to God or Grove City College? As a human, God. As a student of Grove City College, Grove City College. "All the emphasis on the latter" - If a rule has any moral foundation, then that would be some emphasis on your accountability to God.
4) Clearly "holding our hand" is relative because many people (dare I say the majority?) believe the college prepares you for adulthood very well and would disagree that the intervis policy is an attempt to hold your hand.
5) Please look at other comparable Christian colleges and compare their rules to Grove City's if you haven't. But regardless, the bottom line is and always will be that you chose Grove City, they didn't choose you. So far, the policy doesn't seem to be destroying the number of applicants. Also it would be quite hard to target a single policy as a reason for the decline in the number of applications. As far as it being outdated, and disregarding the fact that that is a vague criticism, wasn't it actually updated fairly recently?

Your claims about first amendment violations are a poor justification for alterations to current intervisitation policies. Do you also propose there be no limitations on when buildings are open-should HAL be open 24/7? Regardless of effectiveness and acceptability, it is entirely within the rights of the College to emplace these limitations, especially considering you granted them this authority in agreeing to attend GCC as a student.

Intervis needs to disappear, for the following reasons:
1) It is based on the assumption that college students are too immature to have personal accountability.
2) It doesn't actually prevent the things it proposes to prevent and in the process it punishes all the people who are mature enough to make good decisions. Let's be real guys, if people want to have sex, they're going to find a way, intervis or not.
3) The harsh sanctions that do result from breaking intervis are sending the wrong message. Are we accountable to God for our actions, or to Grove City college? Because the college seems to put all of the emphasis on the latter.
4) If college indeed proposes to prepare us for adulthood, it shouldn't be holding our hand on how to interact with the opposite sex. Just being real here.
5) The system IS outdated. If it continues to exist, it's going to be harder and harder to sell Grove city college to potential applicants whose other options involve actual freedom worthy of an adult in college.
So honestly, Grove City can only stand to benefit by getting rid of it. And there it is, my shpeel.
