Install a red light at that intersection. Don't wait until someone gets killed. A lot of the traffic turning off and onto SR 70 are Braden River High School students and parents .

We live very close to this intersection and hear all the collisions and all of the horns and hard braking all hours of the day and night!

I to go the long way around as I have seen to many accidents or near misses due to people just not being patient!

A light here would go a long way to slow traffic on SR 70 and prevent quite a few accidents. SR 70 and University both carry traffic way too fast for the conditions.
