100% agree Blake Lane is unsafe and speeds far exceed the 35mph limit. Cars never stop for pedestrians at the crossings, so those are useless. I've seen police at the Blake Lane park but I've never seen speed/pedestrian crossing enforcement on Blake. The near-fatal accident involving a child is scary but not surprising. Please take action to make pedestrians safer and enforce the speed limit.

So sorry that a boy nearly died and I hope that he recovers fully. I avoid that intersection (Hibbard/Blake) like the plague it is very dangerous. Same for the Bushman/Blake intersection. I'm all for a round-about at both intersections.

It should be criminal to even construct an intersection/crosswalk such as this in the first place... we need to prioritize the safety of bikes/peds over "level of service" for single-occupancy automobiles

Drivers pick up speed from both Sutton and from Old Blake Lane heading to the intersection, which is also a blind curve when emerging from Hibbard.

Police presence in addition to traffic control measures are needed. There are areas in Vienna that are constantly monitored and have created a culture of speed limit compliance. This is a road not a parkway.

The intersection at Blake and Hibbard has long been a dangerous intersection to navigate and it is nearly impossible to turn left from Hibbard out on to Blake during the height of rush hour. COVID has reduced traffic flow this year and it remains a challenge at times. There have been repeated accidents here, and now a young boy was badly injured crossing here. Something MUST be done to improve safety. Add a light here and at the opposite end of Hibbard at Rt 123 too. Hibbard is a 25 mph zone and the average speed of cut through traffic is probably 40. I, too, have yelled at numerous drivers flying up and down Hibbard. People blow through the stop sign at Hibbard and Pine constantly. Greater controls are needed as we have numerous young kids in our communities here. At a minimum, we need a lighted speed limit sign that also measures car speeds and flashes when the limit is exceeded similar to those used in Vienna--specifically near Apple Tree school on Tapawingo.

I have yelled at so many cars racing thru our neighborhood, It is hard to believe that this is the accident. I have also talked to police about it. Not sure how to get to the root of the problem with the county not being responsive. It is so sad that a child had to be injured b/c what was obvious to all of us is not to the county.

I live in Oakton Knoll Ct and often use this intersection. The petition makes sense and would make it safer for both pedestrians and drivers.

Something needs to change at that intersection. A light, a traffic circle, a raised/lit crosswalk - there are too many accidents there!

It is known that is section of Jermantown and Blake from 123 down towards OHS fails (red) after a number of traffic studies over the years. Including the last one done regarding putting a school on Blake park. I have heard that nothing will be done unless a school is built there. I don’t agree, something must be done. Cars drive almost 55 or more from chain bridge down Jermantown and Blake.

Traffic law enforcement is nonexistent. So many speeders through neighborhoods and no way to stop them. Now a child is almost killed. Where is the PD?

If there can’t be a light, VDOT please consider an elevated crosswalk that is activated to flash lights when a pedestrian is in the crosswalk

There are multiple interceptions from the span of Oakton High School up to Rt 123 that need to be fixed, but we need to start with this one!!
