Swimming is a lifetime, family sport that people of all ages can take part in. In Highland Park, our Northeast and Eastside Communities, the people need and deserve to have pool facilities open to them all year round with affordable lessons, fitness classes, and competitive year-round teams.

This community loves its pool and wants it to be fixed and ready to serve the community all year for many more years to come.

If Los Angeles can afford to host the 2028 Olympics, then Los Angeles must do everything possible to give its kids a chance to compete in them. It must make a sincere and focused effort to ensure that its infrastructure is robust and that all Angelenos have access to the resources they need, and that means year-round pool with enough operating hours.

Three Fast Facts for Why We Need a Year Round Pool:

• A 2017 study by the USA Swimming Foundation found that 45% of Latino children either do not know how to swim, or have limited swimming ability.
• Our NELA communities have insufficient access to affordable gyms and exercise facilities
• We have clinics that see a large number of patients in the community suffering from serious health conditions like diabetes and heart disease, which could be helped with access to year round aquatics.

The city won't know that the people want this unless we kindly let them know.
