This is a petition to make CDOT aware of the safety issues at the intersection of Hwy 160 and CR 501 in Bayfield, CO. This intersection has seen multiple accidents due to issues with timing of the lights and blind spots in the intersection. I am hoping that with this petition CDOT will evaluate and CHANGE this intersection to make it safer for the public.

Send this link to three people who travel through the 8 Corners and email your local representatives to demand an immediate safety review.

There is something wrong when an intersection has on average an accident almost every week. This is too busy of an intersection that needs improvement. Not sure if it is signal issue or where the turning lanes are located, but certainly something needs to be done.
Yes, the intersection really needs to be redesigned. There is definitely a blind spot when in the turning lane for 501 North. If there are cars in the oncoming turning lane, you can't see if there is through traffic. It's very unsafe!
I am happy to sign this!! This intersection scares the hell out of me now!! Me and my son were t-boned there last year my son was 4 months old at the time!! Good thing we were ok!!
We need a safer alternative for pedestrians to cross this intersection, when the accidents do happen, the wrecked cars are often laying on top of the sidewalks.
The combination of speed, light pattern, people in a hurry and lack of patrol by law enforcement have made this a very dangerous intersection. My children have been told to look before proceeding through this light. On more than one occasion they would have been involved in an accident by a semi running the light. Let's work to make this a better situation before there is a fatality.
I live in durango and have seen 2 accidents recently. It's obviously a problem

I agree this needs fixed. My husband and I were on our motorcycle sitting at the light when an accident occurred and the truck that was hit came within an inch of hitting us. I still have nightmares from that accident.
