To the Prime Minister, Commissioner Damanaki, Members of the European Parliament and all member state governments.

Half of all fish caught in the North Sea are thrown back overboarddead.

Why?

I understand that the current Common Fisheries Policy leads to discarding on a vast scale; for example, half of all fish caught in the North Sea are being discarded because of the current quota system imposed by the CFP.

So why not cut back on the use of more commonly used fish like cod? I think this would encourage people to eat a more diverse range of fish. Some species are really good to eat, and people would get used to the ban, or partial ban of cod.

I want this senseless waste of food to end. I want you to use your influence to stop this unacceptable and shameful practice.

Many Thanks,

FFUK

Absolute madness throwing perfectly good fish back in the sea dead. Just because of some silly paperwork and quotas. Fix the rules already.
