This is a very unfair situation where First Plus are acting immorally and Barclays need to take action or be forced to by the Government.

We are in the same boat as many, took out the loan in good faith from what was deemed a reputable business and are grown up enough to know as stated that interest rates CAN go up or down, unfortunately this company does not do the down bit.

Took out the loan in 2002 and still no sight of it reducing! We did manage to reclaim our PPI by completing the form you can download from their site.

My loan started 8 years ago @ 370 pcm. went up in first 3 mths to 404 & has stayed there until now, never reduced interest rate, totally unfair, paid back over 30k & still owe more than borrowed, the greed of this company is unbelievable.

we've been paying this for 8 years and still paying at an interest rate of 8.4% we've had to apply for an iva to help with its wrong that they are still charging a higher rate it should come down

We have had a first plus loan for around the last 9 years. The payments per month are extortionate. By the time we pay them we have hardly any money left for us and our two daughters. We are totally struggling. The balance doesn't seem to go down and they never send us any statements. We have never missed a payment but honestly we cannot cope it's ruining our life. We pay 600 pounds pcm. The cost of living is rising and I don't know how we are surviving if I'm honest. Please help us.

My husband and I are customers of a First plus loan which was sold to us on a basis of monthly repayment level. It was £400. The repayments have increased to around £550 when interest rates increased, but was never reduced back down when base rate dropped.

This company have constantly been involved in bleeding me dry with their exhorbitant interest policy. Statements seem never to come and a rate reduction has never been applied to my secured loan. The ombudsman should really be investigating this firm

How can they get away with keeping the interest rates so high. Just after I took the loan out there was a rise in interest rates, they increased the borrowing rate immediately. Since then rates have fallen dramatically and they have not passed this on. I signed up for a variable rate loan!!

Cynical, disgraceful abomination of a company. The total contempt in which they holds their customers is staggering. The sooner these reptilian scumbags are brought to account and their vile practices outlawed, the better.

Yes, I agree. I had no idea how little has been taken off my loan until I asked for statements last year. I am now asking for them again, but this will take ten working days to get to me apparently.
Government backed, legalised loan sharking
