First and foremost, as people of faith throughout the state of Louisiana, would like to thank you for the courage and moral fortitude you displayed on December 1 when you publicly called for a “bilateral ceasefire in the ongoing Middle East conflict.” This is a crucial first step that, if adopted, would have the immediate impact of saving thousands of people.

We want you to know that you are in our prayers as you discern how to best use your leadership at this pivotal moment. We pray for you to exhibit the moral courage to act within your legal and constitutional authority to do what is right and just.

We ask you to go beyond rhetoric and letters, and take action to ensure the end of Israel's genocidal occupation so as to protect Palestinian and Jewish lives.

Thank you again for the show of support in your previous letter. Now is the time to speak up and take further action against the 75-year occupation of Palestinian lands. May we continue to work for a more just and humane world, in which all people can live freely.
