On February 17, 2014, Quandre Diggs, the 3-year starting cornerback at the University of Texas at Austin, expressed his disappointment on Twitter about not having a "top-five student section in the conference."

Quandre's Tweets:
-"The students really shouldn't have to pay for tickets because they pay enough for school to be real"
- "It's no way we shouldn't have the most students attending sports events we have 51K students!"

These past couple of years the engagement of fans in football games has been dismal and DKR needs some students to pump some excitement into the games!!! So c'mon athletic department, let UT Home games be "first come first serve"!! You can help by signing this petition! Forward it to friends and let's get this rolling!

DKR has been so empty lately. seeing 50k students but half the seats empty during kickoff is embarrassing. first come first serve is the only way to fix this!!

Tuition is already sky high and then they want us to pay for tickets on top of that? ridiculous. let us in for free and the stadium will actually be loud for once.

As an alum, I remember waiting in line for the UT basketball games, which were first come, first serve for seating in the student section. However, you need more incentive. I remember sitting in line for four hours outside prior to the Kansas game so that I could get good seats. Did anyone from the university acknowledge my determination and patience for waiting? NO! What would have been nice would be the athletes coming around to say hi, maybe some snacks/drinks or organized games. Cheerleaders. Warmers in the cold weather, fans in the hot weather. How about opening the stadium 5 hours before so the true die-hard fans can actually get in and sit down when they want to, instead of standing outside and leaning against rails for hours on end. Honestly, it was much easier to just show up at gametime (or after) and just waltz into my assigned seat. However, if you want the rowdy, passionate, come early stay late kind of fans, something has to change. Make it worth their time- both with the on field/court products and the off the field production/entertainment value.
