Firing Franklin County dog shelter staff for random dog deaths

Their policies, treatment of dogs, and relationships with rescues are deplorable.

Sickening....help animals not harm them. Get real animal lovers in that shelter

I have personally fostered dogs deemed aggressive from this shelter that were amazingly docile and loving. I realize they are very busy and have a lot of dogs coming in at any given time, but not even holding up to the stray hold is ridiculous. but they should be looked into at the very least.

What goes on is wrong. Those dogs/pets deserve better. Columbus is getting a bad name bc of this. How horrible

Franklin County dog shelter needs to be investigated for euthanizing animals without cause. They should be closed down or become a no kill shelter with new staff.

How they act at this shelter is despicable at best. There is a need to change from top down and bring in more options for foster, programs etc. there is NO need for the amount of dogs they put to sleep. They have been proven time and time again to unnecessarily and unjustly put dogs to sleep - such as the distemper “outbreak” that they KILLED 52!! Dogs and only 1!!!! Had actual distemper.

Please make this shelter humane with staff who treat the dogs loving and look out for their well being!

I have been shocked at some of the amazing animals who were determined to be terminally ill or behavioral risks that were NOT ill and/or were wonderfully adjusted animals - zero behavior issues. The individuals making these calls at the shelter are doing it for expediency & sadly, maybe just to kill to make their lives easier. The battles some rescues have had to go through to save an animal at this shelter should shame everyone. This can and must be changed. NO EXCUSES.

Your shelter gets enough funding to find better ways to deal with over crowding. There is no excuse for the euthanasia rate at your facility.

It's sickening how they euthanize healthy dogs and put them on rescue only list just to put so much pressure on these recues to pull the dogs, and then some poor dogs fall through the cracks and don't even get chance for rescue to step in to save them, these poor dogs don't deserve death and the rescuers shouldn't be so strapped and stressed to obey their time limit and rules to save these babies lives, its horrible, i truly believe all staff needs fired, and when new staff hired they need to carefully be trained and screened to have any chance of having a job at this facility
