Petition Summary: In 2018, KCHD experienced 222,899 takeoffs and landings, making it the 16th busiest general aviation airport in the U.S. in 2018 and the 48th busiest U.S. airport overall. By 2025, the City projects an annual total of more than 400,000 take-offs and landings. The 40 top ranked (by operations) general aviation airports all have a fire station on the airport or less than 1 mile from the airport except for one. That airport is Chandler Municipal Airport (KCHD). Response time from the distant Fire stations (2.5 miles to the closest station) will only increase over time as development surrounding the airport continues.

Action Petitioned For: We the undersigned are concerned citizens, pilots and KCHD users who urge our City Council to act now to request that an FAA fire station be built on the airport to protect life and property at the Chandler Municipal Airport.

The fact that this is not even on the airport managements 10 year plan shows how little they know about running an airport. What good are the proposed improvements with poor safety.

This Airport is on the very edge of 4 separate Chandler Fire Districts. If you tried to isolate this airport as far away from 4 fire stations as possible, you couldn't have done a better job! The aircraft in the picture was a total loss from a brake fire. The First Responders that assessed the post fire aircraft stated "If you had been injured in the incident and would not have been able to evacuate the aircraft, you would be a fatality for sure"!

A fire station to an airfield, is like oxygen to our bodies, It’s basic! Please save lives, open a fire station on site.

How could this even be a question? The real question is why hasn’t this already been put into action?
