I think it is clear that community wants to keep the football program. We need a president who listens to the community. UA also needs a new Board of Trustees who cares about UAB and UAH and let's them have programs and funding that they need.

I am not affiliated with UAB, and actually have a graduate degree from UA. But, the manner in which this whole issue has been mishandled is abysmal. If even a portion of the accusations about misinformation and the deliberate with holding and mis interpreting information, is true, Dr. Watts must be replaced. And, the State Legislature needs to restructure the Board so that all three schools have equal representation.

I have no affiliation with UAB, but have been following the story as a sports fan, former collegiate athlete, high school coach, and mother to two athletic high school boys. This has been handled in such a deceitful, unprofessional manner and is a horrible thing to do to the student-athletes and coaches. In the end, it will also hurt, not help, the bottom line. Leaders who don't represent the best interests of the people they are supposed to be looking out for need removed!

With other colleges and high schools supporting football programs, I do not understand how the largest employer in the state of Alabama is unable to sustain their football program. This makes no sense to me or anyone else. Football is probably less the ten percent of the total budget. This decision clearly has nothing to do with the betterment of the school, and everything to do with an unfair board and a puppeteer president.

I used to be a fan or Dr. Watts when he was director of the medical school. However, seeing his complete disregard for the undergraduate campus has been disheartening. He does not listen to the students voices. Nor does his decisions impact the university in a positive. I think we need to return to the leadership of Dr. Garrison who build this university to be one of the best in the country. I am proud to be a blazer and I believe that under the right leadership, UAB can soar to the stars.
