Hello! I am a fire fighter at Ramstein Air Base who thinks that we should wear the same uniform as our Local Nations (The Civilians). I have two goals with this petition. The First is to get enough signatures to hopefully sway the decision of whoever has the final say in the matter. The second is to possibly set the standard for other bases that are willing to do the same. With every situation there are pros and cons. Here are some I could think of. (Pro) The Fire station as a whole will be uniform which will look more professional. (Con) This will cut into our budget for the first year it's applied. (Pro) Later on to come the department will save money from not having to buy military's uniforms, ship said items, and deliver said items. (Con) Lack of Military representation. Unless we throw in a way to show rank (which could easily be done with the velcro blues colored patches) it will be harder to tell the difference between airmen from the NCO's. (Pro) If military ranking wasn't used we could start using our fire fighter rankings. At the end of the day this isn't getting rid of the uniforms in general because there are other times/places (appointments, out-of-house meeting, etc.) where we will still need our uniform but I believe this would be better for us.
