This petition is being generated to dismiss the California Secretary Of Labor And Workforce Development, Marty Morgenstern, for failing to improve the standard of quality of the agency he was appointed to direct.

For those California residents, who have unfortunately been faced with the dilemna of being unemployed, the Employment Development Department (EDD) has always been in charge of meeting the needs of those who are seeking remedies to unemployment. However, over the past few years the quality of service from this deparment has steadily declined. For example, it is impossible to reach the EDD by telephone. In addition, they do not respond to email questions sent to them via their website. Although budget cuts may be their excuse, there is no reason for such substandard service from our state employees. Many of these workers receive generous salaries & benefits that most of us do not receive from private sector employment.

With this petition, I hope to receive immediate action from the governor's office. Sacramento needs to open their eyes and wake up to this problem. If we, as taxpayers of this state, cannot receive great service from our agencies, we should do our best to defeat the upcoming tax increase ballot measures which the governor, and legislature, are seeking to provide more money for worse service.
