We are petitioning for action to be taken concerning our huge issues in FINA 220. Lately, all of the 2 sections of FINA 220 with Mr. Assem Saffiedine have been facing difficulties regarding this course. The difficulties start off by the instructor moving extremely fast with the material (as compared to time breakdown on the syllabus) and skipping chapters that are required for the exam. The instructor has skipped 3 chapters out of 8 for the midterm and told us to read them alone at home knowing that these chapters are important for us to understand for later ones. The second issue is that after skipping all this material, some chapters that have been discussed in class were not fully covered and finished in barely one session. When the instructor was asked if we were responsible for the whole chapter, he replied with a yes yet some material is excluded. The instructor was also asked why the excluded material wasn’t stated on the syllabus. This question was ignored and not answered. A third issue is that along with the rapid finishing of chapters, students are finding it extremely hard to understand the concepts being discussed in class and are left with complete confusion after every session. The fourth issue we would like to discuss is the midterm exam. The midterm exam is going to be a CFA exam with a duration of 3 hours and comprised of 90 questions. The fact of a hard and new exam is not a huge problem for us, but going through the current situation and taking an exam like that will only cause a disaster.

We would really appreciate it if OSB takes action to fix our problems in this course.
