This petition calls for current final year Nottingham University Business School students to be included in the changes to degree titles, planned to take effect for 2015 graduates.

Recently an email has been sent to NUBS students outlining the plans for changes to the program titles. The details are quoted here:

"From September 2014, most of our degrees will be changing from BA to BSc. This will affect Finance, Accounting and Management, Industrial Economics (including with Insurance) and Management Studies. Our Management with Languages degrees will remain as BA degrees. In addition, the name of the Management Studies degree will change to Management and our Management Studies with languages degrees will change to Management with languages."

This email went on to explain various benefits of these changes to students:

"Science and Technology are perceived as more salient and relevant than Arts and Humanities, as evidenced in public policy, resource allocation, changing university structures and public discourse. Therefore, we have made the decision to change the names of our degrees accordingly to reflect this changing environment and to bring us more in line with key competitors."

However, despite outlining these advantages it has been decided that 3rd year students will not be included in this change. Final year students have put forward the following reasons why they should be included:

- The business school themselves have said that the degree will be worth more.

- The content of the course is not changing

- Those who are applying for graduate schemes that start in 2015 will be at a disadvantage to NUBS students that took the same course but graduated the following year.

- The business school has a responsibility to ensure competitiveness of its graduates.

- Final year students managed to get a higher NSS response rate

- Final year students came up with the suggestions for the change

- NUBS students have had to suffer the university drop in the league tables.

- Plans to make changes will have been discussed for some time, therefore to tell us after we have completed the NSS feedback, during exam time has been seen as an attempt to ensure we cannot express disappointment, or have time to appeal.

Those signing below feel that current final year students should be included in changes to degree titles, proposed for 2015
