The Senate has officially restored the requirement for physical presence during active filibusters. This change returns accountability to the floor and ensures that obstruction carries a tangible cost. I appreciate your dedication to demanding this necessary shift in legislative standards.

Dear Harry Reid, There is a simple way for the Democrats to enact their entire agenda. Make the GOP do real filibusters. Require them to stand in the Senate pit, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, talking against the bills they want to filibuster. No more gentlemans' club filibuster---in which they do it by rote. MAKE THEM WALK THE WALK. Because after they do it on a bill or two, for as week or two, guess what? They'll look like the obstructionists they are. And they won't want to do it anymore. And we'll get health care, and green energy and everything else.

The current process obscures the true nature of legislative obstruction from the public eye. By requiring senators to occupy the floor in person, we would ensure that their opposition carries a tangible cost. I am continuing to communicate these concerns to the leadership.

The momentum behind this call for accountability continues to grow at a remarkable pace. It is clear that many people agree the Senate should return to a more rigorous and transparent standard for debate.

Its ridiculous that they get to just say they filibuster and go home. Make them stay and talk. Let's see how long they last.

If they want to block progress they should have to be there in person doing it. No more lazy emails or phone calls. Stand up and say it!

Do it. Force their hand.

Exactly. If they are so against it then they can stand there and tell us why. Stop letting them hide behind these fake rules.

Make them work for it! Sick of these people just phoning it in while the rest of us actually have to show up to our jobs.
