Beginning in 1999, Lane Stadium began undergoing extensive expansion. An expanded press tower with luxury boxes is being built atop the West stands and may be complete in time for the 2005 football season.

\"JD in Charlottesville called and asked if the \"Home of the Fighting Gobblers\" lettering will survive the west side renovation... Weaver answered... by stating that the \"Home of the Fighting Gobblers\" lettering would not survive the renovation.\"
Save the heritage of Virginia Tech by leaving \"Home of the Fighting Gobblers\" on Lane Stadium.
The administration is now aware of the public pressure regarding the lettering. I have requested a formal meeting with the athletics department to discuss the preservation of this landmark. Further updates will follow once I receive a response.

My dad took me to games there when I was little. The gobblers are part of the stadium soul. Leave it alone.

TOTAL TRASH. We are losing everything that makes VT fun. Keep the sign.

That lettering is iconic! You cant just erase history because of some new boxes. Keep it where it belongs.
