Hi all,
As many of you know now, John Rubadeau's contract at the University of Michigan has been terminated, without benefits, after teaching at the University for 33 years. John was treated incredibly unfairly and wasn't able to properly defend himself against a neutral party. Our countless emails to President Schlissel, Dean Martin, and David Porter have proved to be no avail, as the University's administrators hide behind its PR team. They can't ignore such a catastrophic mistake. If you are a former student of John's, were a future student of John's, or even a friend of someone who was taught by John (virtually (CYAQ) everyone has a friend who took John's class), please sign this petition in support of the greatest professor to teach at the University of Michigan.

I'll never donate to the University again if you fire this man. I will also encourage friends to do the same. He's much more valuable to the university than any disengaged administrative person who wants to fire him, and it's not even close.
John has the right to defend himself against these accusations before his contract is terminated prematurely. He has had a positive influence on thousands of students, many of whom needed the unique support he was able to provide.
John was the best professor I ever had. I use the lessons he taught me every day. I’m an English professor now in Washington state, partly because of John. He should leave the University on his own terms, after so many decades of service to students.
The best professor I had during my time at the University. Taught not only the mechanics of the English language, but also about life. "Untraditional" but that is what made him so great and appealing to students. A HUGE loss for the University if John is removed.
With the termination of John Rubadeau, we are not only losing one of the best, but we are also disgracing a 78-year-old man who has served this institution admirably for the past three decades. I am sincerely ashamed of the place that I have called home since 2008.
An amazing person and professor. John is the most passionate professor that I encountered when I was at Michigan and I cannot begin to thank him for everything he taught me.
John was my writing professor in 2003 and I just read the news about how unfairly he is being treated. I am heartbroken for him, and for all the students he will not get to teach during this strange and unfortunate time. I’m with you, John.

It saddens me to see such a loyal employee, amazing asset to UofM and a friend be fired for "political" reasons. He is one of the most dedicated and interesting educators I have had in my life, and if this is not important to UofM, they have terrible priorities.
