Equitable, quality healthcare should be available and accessible to everyone regardless of their social-economic status, job, age, or other factors. Programs such as the ACA, Medicaid, Medicare, and Veterans' assistance programs are essential to ensuring that we have a healthy and vibrant society; one in which people do not need to worry about choosing between housing and health; food and medicine.

Access to health care is especially critical for low-income households which face social conditions that undermine health and which cannot command market resources. Access to health care meets a basic need and makes possible growth and development, learning, work, and community participation. We need to move forward to actual universal access to high-quality and comprehensive health care services, not backward.

My husband has a pre-existing condition and I'm self employed. Paying for health insurance before Obamacare used to eat up 1/3 of our yearly income, and that didn't even include prescriptions, doctor visits and lab work!
