This petition has been created in response to Art Fight’s recent addition of a rule requiring the censorship of nipples – regardless of gender. This means that even cis male characters can be censored and/or removed due to being shirtless, with no regard to context or style. Personally, it is my belief that all nipples should be allowed without censorship regardless of gender identity so long as the context is not sexual. However, even leeway with “biologically male” nipples is a step in the right direction. As it is right now, it is two steps backward.

Art Fight is one of the most fun and innovative forms of art sharing online. It has brought thousands of people together in its 13 years of operation and has brought joy and much needed recognition to countless more. Art Fight and those representing it should be wholly and unequivocally in favor of the freedom of tasteful artwork and strive to be a model for all of its users and beyond. If the Statue of David can be on display to the world and be viewed as one of the greatest art pieces of all time, Art Fight can recognize nudity is not inherently offensive, especially above the belt! Art Fight’s censoring of nipples— a rule reminiscent of Tumblr’s downfall— has made a mockery of the spirit of art and should be removed entirely.
