It's an absolute disgrace that families & friends cannot honour their deceased relatives, by placing flowers on their benches. Shame on you DDC.

Disgusting! They need to remember who they work for, shouldn't they be representing the people???

I am appalled and disgusted at the way DDC are treating families who wish to remember their loved ones by having a memorial bench. Having already charged them an exorbitant amount for a bench (which they don't even own) they now say they cannot even place flowers on the benches. I am sure many people wouldn't have allowed themselves to be ripped off like this had they known this would be the outcome. Shame on you Dover District Council!

Disgraceful mis-use of power, citing perceived "Health and Safety issues" with no foundation!

The benches form a beautiful memorial for families and look lovely for visitors too . The purchase of the benches presents a cheap alternative to the council purchasing seating for the prom from which both residents and visitors alike can benefit from . Many of the flowers are a beautiful sight. In days of council austerity then surely these regulations and letters could be abandoned ( unless they pose a very real hazard) saving a number of postal and resource costs . Spend the council money more wisely your decisions are not supported by your populus !

Absolutely awful! People pay for a bench so they can remember and pay tributes to their loved ones! You take the money for the bench then take away their right to place flowers etc on them!
