I've lived about 30yrs on UWS, the crime has markedly increased in the last year; at minimum approximately 10 homeless regulars now sleeping on 72nd st between Riverside & CPW. de Blasio is not standing behind the police who are now merely bystanders. 'Bail reform' laws are getting criminals released where they are free to roam our streets again. Now we have sex offenders introduced to our family community; what is going on?? NYC & UWS isn't safe anymore, thank our liberal mayor & politicians - stupidity abounds with these brain dead politicians, please think before voting next time for these idiots. What about the $850 Million de Blasio allocated to his wife (nepotism) to 'manage' the City's mental health problems, how was that spent, what was achieved? Our current NYC administration & politicians are useless at best!

Been living with my wife and 2 boys on W79th since 2006. While things had deteriorated in last couple of years, the changes I’ve seen recently are truly eye popping. We love NYC but have actually discussed moving out if things don’t change. We’re not alone.

Are you kidding me? You are forcing families that have the means to leave the City and those that don’t to live in fear.

Why is it ok to break the law, why are violent sex offenders living directly across the street from a school. What are the politicians endorsing this or sitting on the sidelines. This is madness

adequate security measures are not in place for this relatively sudden influx of a high volume of at risk individuals into this small an area. In a matter of two or three days it has created a chaotic and dangerous situation on the streets and in local businesses. I recognize the need and am not a “not in my neighborhood” kind of guy. But this is too much, all at once. It has been badly mismanaged and needs to be fixed quickly to avoid serious problems.

This is common sense. Sad that we even need to sign a petition.

This once nice neighborhood is now filled with people lingering in the streets selling drugs and lingering making noise and harassing Residents. One individual was strung out in broad daylight barely able to stand in the corner of 80th and Broadway. These people need to be removed immediately.

Shirtless gentleman hangs out on the median at 79th St. drinking and being crazy to pedestrians and traffic, shirtless man lying under the scaffolding between 78-79, garbage everywhere, no masks, convenience store on 82nd broken into, guy ODs on street. All within 5 blocks. No longer safe.

I work in the area and have observed many of those taking residence in these hotels roaming the streets without their masks on. It's unnerving considering the fact that we are still facing a pandemic and many are congregated around businesses; bringing discomfort to many customers. While I do believe that the idea is great and that they need a place to reside especially during these hard times, some discipline needs to be enacted and courtesy needs to be shown to the community from these temporary residents.

600 active junkies and sex offenders in a formerly peaceful, clean neighborhood. Thank you, liberals.
