This will be the final nail in the coffin ⚰️. Destruction of businesses, property values, loss of the tax base. Only remainders will be those who cannot relocate, effectively imprisoned within their formerly safe, newly dystopian neighborhood, and a dysfunctional population which will create a neighborhood of their choosing: one which supports their addictions and a life without constraints. The Mayor and city government are doing this to the UWS deliberately, as it conforms to their ideology and desire to punish those they see as privileged. If the city recovers in the near future, it will only be after De Blasio is gone, and dependent upon his successor. Meanwhile, the exodus will continue in haste. The city either learns to re-examine its’ voting patterns, or it doesn’t. Hard to believe an important international city such as this can collapse so quickly, and yet it is happening. What we are witnessing is surreal. Those who have been asleep to the political agenda within this city are being mugged by reality.

Everybody signing this petition is a racist and if you voted for Hilary or say you support BLM, that doesn't make you less racist, it just means you are a hypocrite and a racist at the same time. Saying you support a cause is easy, saying that the 'south needs to change' is easy. Showing true commitment to racial justice and fighting inequality means, well I was going to say sacrifice, but really what is the sacrifice here, it just means being a decent human being to strangers in need that are really having zero impact on you But yeah, y'all are bigots and voting Democrats and opposing Trump doesn't make u less of a bigot, just makes you a hypocrite and a bigot

My main problem is they are all congregating on the corner of 79th, no masks. They live in a group environment where Covid spreads quick if someone get it could spread easy. Now they are on the street without masks...smoking etc. They have guards with them but still. They’ve taken over that whole area. We used to go sit on those benches & have coffees. We can’t because they’ve claimed the area. This just seems poorly planned. It’s more on the hotel and FEMA (who is paying for it). The hotel wanted money. Seeing it’s a private hotel & FEMA is footing the tab I’m not sure how much control the city has.

If we are stuck with recovering drug addicts and child sex offenders for the foreseeable future, our elected officials must do everything possible to maintain the UWS as a safe, nice, family-friend neighborhood.

The unconscious decision by non local authorities for these changes without concerning the actual residents that living in this community is absurd

Safety first. High concentration of this type of housing, unsafe conditions, low monitoring, vandalism, drugs, crime...major problems even for us a Democrats. This situation is a debacle

Why not get after the owners of the hotels ? Is their making money worth the decline of and a possible Covid outbreak on the UWS?
