The city must be livable for everyone , while we need to help those in need , we can not at the same ignore safety and quality of life for everyone . Letting mentally challenged people love on the street is inhumane, they need medical help. Letting drug addicts live in open hotels is not helpful to them. They need closed rehab facilities to overcome addictions. The city is applying band aids to real problems and is not offering real solutions workable for working families, homeless, mentally challenged and people addicted to various substances .

It is a shame what is happening to NYC in general and more specifically to my UWS neighborhood.

I live in the upper west and in the last 9 months I don’t recognize the neighborhood. It does not feel safe anymore.

Warehousing "the homeless" anywhere is similar to warehousing "criminals". The root cause of these major problems is not being addressed.

I think its amazing for homeless to be housed in empty hotels, but not in one of the most prominent family neighborhoods in the city. There are so many neighborhoods that are less family oriented, like the financial district (which is pretty empty because of COVID)
