I am signing this petition because crime has greatly increased on the Upper Westside. I don’t feel as safe as I used to and I want the quality of life to improve.

I live on the upper West side and it has become awful with homeless and drugs and drinking. This is not the way we should be living. This is not a slum.I resent that the New York city government opened these shelters for people who do not belong where there are older people and babies or anybody for that matter. They should be put in an area where there are few were people.

In less than one week since Lucern Residents have arrived, there is more garbage, men gathering in groups, no masks.smoking , terrible urine smell and playing loud music. I have been approached several times begging for money. When I walked past the Condo apt building, a few feet from the Lucern, at 7,30 pm ,a group of 5 homeless men were begging residents for money. The guards at Lucern were called. I am no longer comfortable to leave my apt. My children who go to school a few blocks from Lucern are not permitted to go outside, unless an adult is with them. This has become a “quality of life” issue. Some buildings have hired additional guards.

Just because there’s a pandemic doesn’t mean that the city should stop doing their job in keeping the city clean and safe.

If they are going to house people here, they better have a zero level tolerance for any illegal activity.

This has always been a family neighborhood. We already have many homeless housed here, which is fair. There was no need for taking over two additional hotels in this same neighborhood. It is unsafe and there are other neighborhoods where the people can be housed. Now.

these shelters and drug hotels is making our hood unsafe , and confirmed that many of these men are active drug users!!

I live on the UWS. It is a disaster and dangerous im thinking of leaving. Mayor and local politicians are corrupt and incompteant letting the ciry go to ruin

there has to be a better way to house homeless families, help drug addicts AND keep UWS safe. This was not well thought out
