Dear Dean Huberman, Assistant Dean Galina, Professor Shiffman, and Esteemed Faculty of Touro,
We know that you are working incredibly hard during this very stressful time to ensure we have classes and we appreciate your efforts tremendously. This is a difficult time for us as students as we try to navigate working from home, managing our families, and completing our schoolwork. It is wonderful for graduating seniors that their required hours for field have been reduced; however those of us in our foundation field year still need to compete the full 600 hours for the year. For many of us, this is proving to be quite challenging. Without child care or proper remote assignments, there is little chance of us being able to complete our hours, even going into the summer months.
We are asking for compensatory assignments and reduced hours so we can complete our fieldwork for the year. Please consider the challenges that we are facing as well as the graduating class.

The administration has acknowledged receipt of our formal request regarding the field hour requirements. I am currently preparing a detailed follow-up document to clarify the specific obstacles foundation year students face in this climate. Your continued patience is appreciated while I work to ensure our concerns are properly addressed.

I believe that you should extend the same courtesies to all the students who are currently losing hours due to this crisis. Most people attending Touro attend because of their flexibility. Imagine having to spend another year of life and having to finance that too. The time flexibility should be extended to all current students.
Being home with 3 children, ages 10 months-6 years old is a handful, plus now we're nearing the end and finals are a big burden. To juggle hours on top of all of this is an enormous struggle. Please advocate for us! Much heartfelt thanks.
I'm signing this petition to show my support regarding because I too feel it's unfair we're still responsible to complete 600 Internship hours. I can only speak for myself in saying i'm under an enormous amount of stress and pressure from being a student, wife, mother of twins toddlers. My academic responsibilities have not been lessened, I'm still required to complete every assignment from the syllabus when my other responsibities are 24 hr.s a day. In addition I'm more anxious because i'm constantly worried about myself and family and hope we don't get infected with covid. I seen friends, and loved ones die of this and it's a constant concern and still regardless of everything school hasn't let up.. There's so much more I want to say but will end it here.
These are very stressful times, and to think about hours right now. Is practically impossible. Please reduce Thank you
People especially on the field of Social Work should be considered, logical, empathetic to self and others considering situations like this one. Simply be a Human's.
I am in support of the request to reduce the hours required to complete the semester.

I too have personally suffered and endured the harsh effects of COVID-19 for over a two week period. Being at home with my wife and our 4 month old daughter, she had to shoulder a lot of the childcare responsibilities until I felt better. Now that her employment has transitioned to digital, and my school load hitting the end of semester workload, we're both trying to juggle childcare and professional responsibilities and I feel like I'm drowning. We aren't asking for a complete free pass on all academic coursework of the semester - just a diminished field work quota. Thank you
