This petition exists to demonstrate that as a whole, the residents of Falls Grove are disappointed with the community swimming pool hours of operation. The pool closes too early for adult residents who work typical hours to be able to fully enjoy it on weekdays.
We, the resident, dues-paying homeowners, respectfully request the swimming pool to remain open until 9 p.m.
Many residents have written emails to Bob Welborn, the Ghertner community representative requesting extended pool hours, or at least a community meeting to discuss the issue. Here are reasons (and rebuttals) for non-action residents have reported:
- Someone (not the residents) decided it is necessary to hire a pool attendant and extend his/her hours due to "numerous concerns" about residents "needing supervision" and "abusing the rules."
- Based on input from residents, we are not sure what “abuse” of the rules is taking place or who could possibly need supervision.
- The pool attendant is not always present, so this seems to have no bearing on the pool’s hours of operation.
- We challenge the claim that extended pool attendant hours are needed and the notion that a pool attendant’s presence correlates with appropriate operating hours.
- There are no lights erected at the pool.
- During the summer, it doesn't get dark until after 8 p.m.
- Why are there no lights erected in the pool? The parking lot is lighted. It is a quality swimming pool, and it is quite reasonable to expect lights to be present.
- Why are there underwater lights installed in the pool?
In regard to a community meeting to discuss the issue, Mr. Welborn has deferred responsibility of such things to the developer. The residents are unhappy with something in the community that would take minimal, if any, effort to set right. Presently, many residents cannot enjoy the beautiful pool they bought into and continue to pay for because it closes at 7 p.m. It seems the time was arbitrarily selected with no forethought in regard to the residents’ needs or convenience.
Again, as a united community, we ask that the swimming pool hours of operation be extended. We would be happy to attend a community meeting to discuss the issue further. Thank you for creating the stunning community we call home. We want to be able to fully enjoy all Falls Grove has to offer.

I have been reviewing the recurring feedback shared in the comments regarding the inconsistencies of our current facility management. These accounts highlight a clear disconnect between the expectations of homeowners and the limitations imposed by the community representative. We are currently preparing to present this collective perspective formally to ensure that the request for extended hours remains a priority.

The momentum behind this request confirms that many residents share the same frustration regarding current pool access. It is clear that the community desires a more reasonable schedule that accommodates working professionals.

I'm buying a new home with Ryan Homes and wasn't told about the hours. I'm not very happy, we are a working family that doesn't get home to be able to enjoy the pool for very long. My friend lives in Ladd Park and they get to use there pool up to 10:00 pm. I hope we can get this changed.
We are very happy with the pool, but do feel the hours should be extended to accommodate the people who don't get home until 6:00 from work.

At the least, pool hours should follow sunset if "not lighted" is the primary rationale for the early pool closing hours. Even mid cost apartments in Franklin stay open to their residents till 9 or 10pm.
