September 14, 2011 ROSSANA T. ADAO Director, IT Education FEU-East Asia College Madam, The MIT pilot class students of the Graduate Studies Department have learned that the effective schedule of the program this 2nd Semester 2011-2012 will be from 12PM to 9PM facilitating subjects’ SOFTWARE ENGINEERING and METHODS OF RESEARCH. It is accepted and understood by the class that such late dismissal of 9PM last 1st semester is justified in order to accommodate nine (9) units as per stated in the course curriculum. However this 2nd semester, there are only two (2) subjects to consider as previously stated. Applying the 12PM to 9PM schedule has circumstantial and arbitrary impacts on the different members of the class. Since it is 9PM, issues on safety, security and transportation access going home is to be considered among all of the members. Such difficulties are previously experienced by the class including fatigue factor that hampers the learning absorption of some. Strategically, the subjects offered this semester requires the use of library research, data gathering, brainstorming interaction of the class which is time consuming, and is achievable only in the afternoon. Also, the class is preparing for the comprehensive exam and Independent Study (Capstone). Implementing a 9PM dismissal deprives the class to do such so. In lieu of the above, may I request your good office to rectify the existing schedule to 8AM to 5PM as previously practiced. Hoping for your favorable and positive response regarding the matter. Respectfully yours, MIT Students
