Request for a Chance to Reform
My cousin is serving his sentence of 16 years imprisonment and 24 strokes of cane since 2003. He fully understands the severity of his offence and accepts the punishment meted out to him. What he is appealing for is a chance to reform. He wants to be a reformed man who succeeds in life and contribute back to the society. In order for him to succeed in life, it is imperative for him to upgrade his educational qualifications.
After much struggle, he currently has completed his 'N' level with 4 distinctions and 'O' level with 4 distinctions and a credit. He achieved 8 points (Tamil A1, English B3, Maths A1, POA A1 and Combined Humanities A2) which would have enabled him to attend any course he desires outside but when he applied to do his 'A' levels which is taught only in Prison School, he was rejected. The reason given was his offence.
Therefore, he seeks your help. All he is asking is to be judged base on not his offence but on his merits and conduct. He pleads to be given a second chance to reform and upgrade himself.
Therefore, both he and I bow to you in supplication and implicitly believe that you will help him resolve his dilemma and enable him to sit for his 'A' levels.
You can go the blog page to view and read the letters by my cousin and the reply he received. We are truly grateful for your kind gesture.
